Passion is universal yet unique to each individual. Over the years, the subjective ideals of passion have become increasingly easier to conceptualize by scientists. Passion has been defined as "energy that can fuel a project, or a task", similar to motivation. Passion is also directly correlated to flow, and it is when we are doing our passion that we feel free enough to break away from external restraints and feel fully in control. Time seems to dissipate and we carry out the task with a new found enthusiasm.
My second auto-ethnography explores the concept of passion and its effects on the college student community. I am interested to explore the effects of incorporating one's passion into day-to-day life, looking at whether or not having a passion benefits one's college experience. I will interview students about their passions and ask the following series of questions:
1. What does the word “passion” mean to you? / How does it make you feel?
2. What is your passion and why?
3. Do you think it is important for one to have a passion?
4. Do you think having this passion helps you to excel better in your day-to– day life (ie. academics, social life, etc)?
